African Okoume Timber from SENHEDA WOOD
Buying Okoume starts with knowing what your factory needs from the material. A plywood producer looks at veneer quality and recovery. A furniture manufacturer may be more concerned with usable board widths, drying and the finish after machining. Those details shape the order long before a container is loaded.
At SENHEDA WOOD, we supply African timber to importers and manufacturers in markets including Vietnam, China, India and the Middle East. Okoume is part of our range, and we work with buyers to match the available material to their production requirements.

Okoume, or Aucoumea klaineana, is a lightweight African hardwood associated with Gabon and the Republic of the Congo. Its heartwood is typically salmon pink to light pinkish brown, with straight or interlocked grain. It is well suited to veneer production and is used in plywood, blockboard, interior paneling, joinery and furniture components.
The wood glues well and can be worked to a good finish. Sharp tooling matters: its silica content can dull cutting edges, and some material may leave a woolly surface after machining. For buyers, a sample processed on their own equipment is a useful way to assess the result.
Okoume has low natural resistance to decay, so its main appeal is in interior applications. Outdoor or marine panel performance must be assessed against the finished product specification; the species name alone does not establish suitability.
For further species information, see the USDA Forest Products Laboratory technical profile.
Our Okoume range includes square-edged sawn timber from Gabon and Congo, with air-dried and kiln-dried options. Listed thicknesses are 25 mm, 50 mm and 75 mm, in random widths and lengths from 2.4 m upward. These are starting specifications for an inquiry; available sizes, drying condition and shipment timing are confirmed for the order.
If you need a particular cutting size, tell us the finished dimensions as well as the rough timber size you normally buy. A board that looks wide enough in a photograph may leave too little allowance after edging and planing. For random-width orders, agreeing on a minimum usable width helps keep the quotation relevant to your factory.
Veneer requirements can also be discussed with our team. Please state whether the material is intended for faces, backs or core layers, together with sheet dimensions and thickness. You can review our Okoume product page for the listed timber specifications and loading photographs.

A useful quotation needs more than a species name and a price per cubic metre. Grade, moisture condition and the distribution of sizes all affect how much finished material a buyer can recover from a load.
We ask buyers to share the defects their production can accept, including knots, end splits, pinholes and wane. Photos of an accepted grade are helpful, especially for repeat orders. For dried timber, the target moisture content should be stated separately from the words “air-dried” or “kiln-dried.”
Our team can provide available stock photographs, inspection images and container loading updates so buyers can review the material being offered. Packing details and the packing list also form part of the shipment discussion, allowing the buyer to check quantities and prepare for arrival.
HONG KONG SENHEDA WOOD LIMITED has more than 17 years of timber trading experience. Our African sourcing network and sawmill relationships support the work behind each order, from checking supply and discussing quality to coordinating packing, export documents and international shipment.
Vietnam has been an important market for our business over the years. We also work with buyers in other destinations, where required sizes, accepted grades and shipping arrangements can differ. These details are discussed for the individual order, including certificates of origin and phytosanitary documentation where required.
Alongside Okoume, our African timber range includes Iroko, Sapele, Ovangkol, Padouk and other species. Buyers sourcing several timbers can discuss their requirements with the same team.

Send us your required thickness, width and length, grade, drying requirement, quantity and destination port. If you have a sample photo or a cutting list, include it. We can then check availability and prepare a quotation for the material you need.
